 “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.”

Philippians 4:13(NIV)

 

I once read a poem by a famous poet of long ago; he wrote about the simple wonder of a tree.  His final conclusion of the matter was this line, “… poems are written by fools like me, but only God can make a tree.”  I read that poem when I was in a Newport News grade school.  As part of my assignment I illustrated the poem; my final picture was a drawing of the author looking skyward on a perfect day standing under a tree.  I honestly believe that was my first genuine inkling about God:  my thought; “I wonder” (is God really there, and does he know about me?).  I discovered the answer was “yes” when Jesus found me and saved me out of the curse of sinful death and eternal damnation to give me eternal life in forgiveness and redemption.

 

I think I would be foolish to think that I could build a spiritually vibrant healthy church by my own leadership abilities, or that we as a church in God’s kingdom could make our church what God desires by our own abilities, talents, and skills. I need God to lead; the church needs God to be able to follow me as I follow Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. The Holy Spirit brings to us great amazing grace to do all things by our faith in Christ. All that we must do is worship and serve the Lord with our whole heart; this means to love Him always and to prove that love by the way we love each other.  WE CAN do all things through Christ.  With all our hearts we have a godly vision to build New Harvest Family Church and we have a mind to work to achieve that dream; only God can make a Church.
